The same rules apply to CSP ES as are applicable to AACPS. Entering kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by September 1st. All other students will be placed based on their successful completion of their last grade in their last school.

In addition to your child’s name and address, you will need to know what grade your child will be entering, the name of your child’s current school (zoned school if entering kindergarten), and your child’s “magnet id”. The magnet id is the number your child is assigned once he/she is registered in a regular public school within AACPS.

Once the lottery window has closed, the process for acceptance, done by a 3rd party, will begin. Results will be posted and parents will be given access to the lottery results.

If your child’s magnet id appears on the “Accepted” list, expect an email giving you instructions on “how to accept your child’s seat”. You will not have to contact the school.

Students are placed on a waitlist by grade levels. As families accept or reject their seats, those on the waitlists are contacted in the order of their appearance on the waitlist. This process is repeated until all available seats are filled.

CSP ES will provide bus service to students residing within a “reasonable distance” subject to budgetary limitations. CSP Elementary will contract with AACPS’s approved bus vendor company to provide transportation from established bus stops.
Students eligible for transportation:
• Kindergarten students who live within 6 (six) miles of the school’s address and reside in excess of one-half mile from CSP Elementary.
• All other elementary school students who live 6 (six) miles within the school’s address and reside more than one mile from CSP Elementary.

Chesapeake Science Point Elementary is a public charter school. It is free to attendees as long as the student is a bonafide resident of Anne Arundel County.
